I have venolia pistons in my 2.5L with .007"
clearance, so I have that noisy diesel engine effect,
too.  Though most noticeable at idle, the noise
doesn't go away all the sudden, but yes, it does go
away somewhat with higher RPM.  On mine, 3000 seems to
be where its at.
