You might have stumbled across the first (now documented)
Shelby clone, because the VIN is not on the list. I don't
have an 89 truck FSM to reference to decode the meaning, but
the 6th digit in the VIN should be a 9 for all the Shelby
Dakota's according to the listing (this VIN shows a 6).
And all the Shelby Dakota VIN's I have in our member
database do start out with 1BFL96X.
I have a VIN checker which matches the VIN against it's
check digit, and the VIN you supplied is accurate for the
check digit of 7.
